The Kruger
Kruger National Park - the jewel of South Africa's National Parks
It is the benchmark against which all other reserves are judged, but the magic extends beyond the park gates, and you should explore the many surrounding charming towns. Sabie is a historic gold-mining town which offers scenic beauty, charming architecture, and the entertaining Sabie Cableway for breathtaking views. Hazyview is a vibrant hub near the Kruger, which provides a variety of restaurants, shops, and adventure activities like bungee jumping. Graskop is nicknamed "God's Window" for its scenic waterfalls and panoramic vistas over the Drakensberg escarpment.
Sabi Sand Reserve, which has an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, is renowned for exceptional leopard viewing and many other species and the whole park is a sanctuary for one of the longest lists of African wildlife, including the Big 5!
Fly into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport or Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport and connect by road transfer or self-drive. There are also any smaller airports, and some lodges have private airstrips.
